2025 Starboard Above – Wing foil Boards the Glide Sooner & Fly Longer.
The New Starboard Above is a wing foil board targeting easy lift off and long foiling flights for beginner to intermediate wing-foilers.  The design targets effortless freeride foiling in all conditions. The Above is Starboards mid-length foilboard range, perfect for winging earlier in lighter winds. Its longer, narrower shapes help you glide faster, take off easily, and ride more stably and comfortably. This creates greater stability by gaining momentum rather than simply trying to balance—just like riding a bike. As a result, there is rising demand for these “mid-length” style designs. The Above caters to a wide range of riders, from entry-level to advanced. More stable than an Ace, more efficient than a Take Off, the Above is a blend of these 2 designs. The boards additional volume in the nose and tail allows for an even stance over the foil before takeoff, while the combination of a longer and narrower outline easily generates speed for early lift-off. A parallel nose with sharp rails gives the Above easy-to-recover touchdowns with instant rebound. The Vee nose reduces drag for early take-offs, allowing you to get up flying faster. It is more forgiving on touchdowns, enabling quick recovery to rebound and continue flying. The nose is slightly wider than the Ace Foil, providing greater control and stability before flight. The mid-section of the outline is kept straight for a predictable and balanced ride. This improves overall stability and tracking for a controlled glide to take-off. Boxy rails reduce the overall width while maintaining the stability of a wider board, leading to better efficiency and faster take-offs. This design feature, inspired by years of race development, allows riders to manage narrower boards easily. A rounded vee nose helps for efficient take offs and recovers well on touch downs, feeding to a flat bottom for maximum stability, exiting with a round tail for a smooth release. Construction:
LS – Limited Series = Super-strong and lightweight biaxial carbon fiber is laminated on the deck and bottom over the foil for maximum stiffness and rigidity. A PVC stringer prevents impact damage and creates a secure mount for the foil box. Double-reinforced rails provide additional strength and stiffness, while multiple layers of fiberglass protect the entire board. Australian pine wood in the standing area offers extra impact resistance and rigidity in the most critical impact zone. All inserts feature high-density foam reinforcements, along with added rail and nose reinforcements for extra durability.

Above 6’10” insight:
At 101L, this 21” wide board propels off the water quickly yet provides the comfort and stability of a wider board. The flat deck makes it surprisingly spacious, and the Vee nose and pronounced rocker aid in recovery on touchdowns. Tartes Riders up to 100 kg / 220 lbs.
