Starboard Airplane Inflatable 255 / 242 – the ultimate in inflatable windsurfing performance.
The new Starboard Airplane 255 and 242 models are inflatable windsurfing boards to allow for maximum shortboard performance and versatility in an inflatable board. These updated designs feature 12 cm thick hulls (vs 15 cm 2023), new graphics and new double chamber inflation (242 only). They both have a removable center fin box system that allows riders to use these in moderate sub-planing conditions, or for teaching purposes. When installed – the center fin will provide additional stability and minimize side ways drift from the wind. When center fin and box are removed – the board is fully capable planing hull that delivers hard board type planing performance in an easy to transport and travel with inflatable board that fits into a backpack. The new thickness of 12 cm = provide enhanced control with reduced thickness and ergonomic rail shape to ensure comfortable full-on planing and performance. Enclosing the AirPlane’s rear fin box permanently in the board streamlines the bottom shape, which improves early planing and top-end speed. The new fin box is glued in place and no longer removable, which also makes the board easier to set up.

Construction:
Heated and bonded for life - Starboard’s new welding technique turns two into one – using heat to bond two separate pieces of PVC into a single solid unit. Heat-welded PVC creates a mechanical bond that’s stronger, lasts longer – and is better for the environment. Double-layer, low-extension woven drop-stitch Fusion Welded technology adds stiffness, improves durability with a higher resistance to puncture, improves shape stability over time and reduces weight. New improved efficiency and reduced drag ensure easier planing. Enclosing the AirPlane’s rear fin box permanently in the board streamlines the bottom shape, which improves early planing and top-end speed. The new box is glued in place and no longer removable, which also makes the board easier to set up. 4.75” drop stitch both 255 and 242 sizes.
